Institute of Informatics (ITU-II)

Stage1:

Informatics Institute, providing graduate level education and research in all dimensions of human development for information technology applications, is an Istanbul Technical University (ITU) unit.

The mission of Informatics Institute is to build an interdisciplinary platform which will promote research and education in all application areas of information technologies.

ITU-II is one of the leading institution in information technologies. It is the predecessor of ITU (UYBHM) NHPC.  First HPC efforts has been fulfilled  for ITU-II in the body of ITU.

CompecTA Ltd. has played several roles and take responsibilities establishing the HPC infrastructure in several projects within the organization. For those succession of projects, CompecTA has fulfilled the obligations such as, HP-SFS20 PFS, Os Deployments, Performance Network Configurations, etc…

Stage 2:

Installation, Integration & deployments services. In addition, we have completed the tasks in order to establish the connection between new bladesystems and the HP SFS20 scalable file system by means of 2 datamover machine.

In the scope of the tender, we have installed and deployed 70 HP client into the HPC system.

Infrastructure

Hardware :

Stage1:

84 HPC server (37 unit HP DL580G4,  10 unit DL360G5, 37 unit DL360G4 Servers) –(262 core) (2005)

Stage2:

26 node HP ProLiant BL2x220c (Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5430 ) with HP BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure (2008), (A Part of MARS Computing Unit).  It has been bought from CompecTA (Tender NO: 2008/168601)

Network :

Stage1:

Myrinet 1.2.7 10Gbps Performans Network

Stage2: DDR Infiniband Performance Network with voltaire infiniband internal Blade switch (December 2008)

File System :

Stage1:  HP SFS 20 1.2.7 PFS with (5.3 TB)

Stage2: HP SFS 20 1.2.7 PFS with SFS2 (27 TB) …

New Blade Systems are connected to he HP SFS20 by means of  2 HP Proliant DL380g5 using NFS share.(Those machines are called as datamovers)

1 unit HP StorageWorks EVA 4400 with 96 SATA Drives and 8 Enclosures. It has been bought from CompecTA (Tender NO: 2008/168601)
